Find unearthed Aztec treasure at Templo Mayor

MEXICO // To the Aztecs it was centre of the universe, a 60m-high (200ft) temple dedicated to the gods that towered above their sophisticated capital, Tenochtitlán, until the Spanish destroyed it in 1521. But some legends refuse to die. Unearthed by electricity workers in 1978, the temple's ruins have so far yielded over 7000 artefacts and helped piece together the story of the hulking structure that once stood here. Precious booty is laid out in an eight-room on-site museum that archives the history of Mesoamerica's greatest monument.
