Reach new heights while climbing the Tsingy de Bemaraha

MADAGASCAR // In a country renowned for its wildlife - lemurs, chameleons, aye-ayes, fossas - it takes something special to steal the show. Presenting... Tsingy de Bemaraha. Hewn by wind, rain and the hands of time, these fantastical-looking karstic limestone formations in western Madagascar are as astounding to behold as they are tricky to navigate. The local word for the razor-sharp pinnacles is tsingy, which translates as 'the place where one can't walk'. Yet you'll find yourself squeezing through cavities and reaching spiky summits hundreds of metres up. How? With the aid of trained guides and a via ferrata system of fixed cables, stemples, ladders, suspension bridges and walkways. If you're lucky, you may just spot a lemur or two in the forests below.
