Burning Man

WHAT IS Burning man

Guided by the values expressed by 10 principles, Burning Man is a global ecosystem of artists, makers and community organizers who create art, events and local initiatives around the world. Most importantly, tens of thousands of Burners come together annually to build the city of Black Rock, a temporary cooperative metropolis in the Nevada desert.

The non-profit Burning Man Project produces the annual Burning Man event in Black Rock and provides year-round support, connection, education and financial assistance to a growing network of regional Burning Man communities in more than 40 US states and It offers 35 countries.

Where It All Begins

On July 27, a small group of city planners gathered to hammer the first spike—known as the Golden Spike—into the place where the man would rise. From this point, the whole town of Black Rock originates. Read on to hear from some of the people who attended this year's Golden Spike event.
