Krampusnacht is celebrated on December 5 every year in Germany, other European countries and Australia. It takes place the night before St. Nicholas, a night when people dress up as the evil Krampus and chase evil children through the streets. Krampus tells the children, and they give them bunches of "paside", a bunch of twigs, so they won't forget Krampus after he's gone. The holiday is also becoming increasingly popular in America as it captures a bit of the excitement and ghost of Halloween just before the Christmas season.
