Inle Lake Pagoda Festival Myanmar

The date varies from year to year, on the seventh month of the Burmese lunar calendar - but the traditional festival itself? It never ceases to inspire.

Around the rectangular villages of Inle Lake, the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda Festival is one of Myanmar's biggest Buddhist festivals. While visitors are attracted by the loud notes of traditional music and rhythmic dances, it is the procession on the water that catches their attention. Four Buddha statues circle each village for blessings, carried by a golden barge in the shape of a mythical bird.
