Trieste Bay Bustle, Italy's historic Barculana, is an international sailing race held every second Sunday in October. It's an incredibly impressive sight, with over 2,000 boats and 16,000 sailors!

 

Of course, as many large gatherings do, it turns into a full-blown festival. Other water sports, nightly concerts, a parade of vintage ships and even a makeshift village launch call visitors. If you like to surf the waves freely, you should be there.
